چکیده

The three flow-control techniques introduced in this paper are backpressure flow control, alpha scheduling, and balanced injection. Our variations on backpressure flow control essures that all the buffers in a node are not filled with one particular category of packet, such as those destined for the same node, so that buffers are available for other packets. Alpha scheduling exploits the distinction between message latency and packet latency to maximize the effective performance of the interconnect from the perspective of applications. Balance injection throttles the injection of traffic into a node from outside the network based on local congestion as measured by local buffer usage. These three flow-control techniques, together, provide a significant increase in fabric performance, both in sustainable throughput and in message latency, under a wide variety of realistic traffic patterns.

Introducing an Invention: Puzzle Shaped Cast for Upper Limb Fractures

Upper limb fractures are prevalent injuries. An essential element of fracture healing is to maintain the bones alignment. However there are lots of complications associated with traditional ways of treatment, such as compartment syndrome and stiffness due to immobility for long time. Also evaluation and observation of the limb under the casts for potential infections and skin issues are n...

Jigsaw Percolation: What Social Networks Can Collaboratively Solve a Puzzle? by Charles

We introduce a new kind of percolation on finite graphs called jigsaw percolation. This model attempts to capture networks of people who innovate by merging ideas and who solve problems by piecing together solutions. Each person in a social network has a unique piece of a jigsaw puzzle. Acquainted people with compatible puzzle pieces merge their puzzle pieces. More generally, groups of people w...

Congestion Control Approaches Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a specific category of wireless ad-hoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, life time, storage capacity, processing power, topology changes, the communication medium and bandwidth. These limitations necessitate an effective data transport control in WSNs considering quality of service, energy efficiency, and congestion control. ...

A linear threshold for uniqueness of solutions to random jigsaw puzzles

We consider a problem introduced by Mossel and Ross [Shotgun assembly of labeled graphs, arXiv:1504.07682]. Suppose a random n×n jigsaw puzzle is constructed by independently and uniformly choosing the shape of each “jig” from q possibilities. We are given the shuffled pieces. Then, depending on q, what is the probability that we can reassemble the puzzle uniquely? We say that two solutions of ...
